A Post Worth Reading
I realize by the time most of the 07 seniors have read this, I will have had to coax them in to doing so (except: frostedcookie and jay-bo). But I feel that this pathetic Blog in its pathetic existence needs a revival. Hopefully I can get Josh in on this blog, because we all know this is his kind of thing. Here are a few subjects I would like to put forth, 1: Should the prohibition of alchohol be reenstated upon the U.S. 2: As a minor is it our moral responsibility to pay attention to the specifics of politics? Or need we only be informed of major events? And last but not least 3: Who is taking over the world? The Muslims, the Chinese, or the Chinese-Muslims? Is this an issue we should be afraid of? (note: I didn't say "concerned") Have at it!

5 Comments:
1. No way Jose. It will only cause crime to increase, please, drinking wouldn't subside that much anyway.
2. We live here don't we? We enjoy our inalienable rights guaranteed by the constitution don't we? Of course we need to pay attention!
3. Muslims (concern level: cautious).
But what I hate most is the ACLU. They are a threat to the US.
As far as the 2nd issue goes. I do believe that we (as minors) should pay attention to MAJOR events. I don't know that I would quite call it a moral responsibility, more like a civic responsibility. However the reason I am challenging this is because the context in which it arose implied that I need to pay attention to every election (mayor, govener, senator, etc.) and every bit of gossip out there about every candidate. I believe that I have a responsibility to vote (once I turn 18), and to understand what it is I'm voting for, no more, no less.
1. As far as the first topic goes, 1. I personally do not feel that alcohol is a morally wrong substance to drink. I do
believe that the consumption of this substance has been abused by a large portion of the
population. This abusement has caused numerous deaths due to people who drive under
intoxication (16,653 deaths in the year of 2000),and people who abuse family members and
disrupt the community while under intoxication. Because of the damage that a pure
prohibition law would inflict on the economy and law that is not as broad may be
necessary. An example would be a law prohibitng former prison inmates from purchasing
alcoholic beverages. Alcohol (like driving) could become a privilege that needs to be
earned instead of a God given right. Overall, the issue of prohibition is not a point
that I personally have any strong feelings toward, and I personally think that an issue
such as "The right to smoke" would be more of an important topic to debate and to tear
apart. The smoking problem is an issue that people have to deal with on a day to day
basis and is more imminent danger.
2. Keeping up with MINOR and MAJOR political events. As we are learning in TUN, people who do not keep track of their government get tyrannized by their government. The government usually uses secrecy in the passing of major measures, and it takes a sharp eye to keep the government in check.

3. Muslims are a scary, possessed, and determined group of people who if we are not careful will infultrate the governmental system of the United States. Muslims have very large families. In my opinion Islam should not be allowed as a religion in the United States because it preaches hatred and is destructive not constructive. A murder can not escape prison by claiming he was practicing a religion. Why should Muslims? Muslims can not be negotiated with. It says in the Koran that the infidel must be destroyed and that is their goal.
Heh yeah yeah, i'm not a senior but hey... Anyway I'm only gonna comment on two things. Firstly I believe that it is the right of an american to drink as much they like. So long as they don't harm or destroy any person or their property, or break laws, such as drinking and driving. Secondly, yeah muslims probably want to kill us, but it's their right as americans (If there are legal Americans), to practice the freedom of religion. If Christans oppose that right, we will only make ourselves out to be the bad people. Not every American is a Christian, so if we act against the Muslims, we will only be pegged as hateful vengeful religeous extremists. Don't get me wrong, I would not mind fighting the Muslims, but it's simply not that easy.
Bingo, Evan.
