Tale of Two Cities Review

Alright! I'm sure all of you have finished TOTC by now (winkwink Rosdower). Anyway, this is the place to sound off about what you thought of the novel. At least rate it on a scale of 1-10, 10 being: "I woulden't use this book to light a fire if I were freezing in Antartica" and 1 being: "I'd use this book to light a fire if I was baking in The Sahara".
However do feel free to expound on the rating system if it seems a little con fining. Enjoy your posting, hold nothing back!

Part 1: 2 Too slow, was more about the despriction that plot. Those kind of books disgust me.
Part 2: 4 Had its moments, but still had too much description.
Part 3: 7 Much better. Actually had some plot involved, not just description.

Overall: 3. I averaged it out to be about 4.3, but it just took too long to get into the swing, so I took off more. I kind of liked Young Werther a Little better, I'm ashamed to admit. I didn't think that possible, to like Werther better than something. Pride and Prejudice reigns supreme.

well i cant say iwas blown away by it oranything but it was okay, Dickens uses a bit to much discription for my tastes, but then again i'm not much of a reader :(
so i'd give the book a 5

I have to admit that I dont really like Dickens. In fact, Christmas Carol is the only other thing I've ever liked that he's written. I'd rather read authors like Jane Austen who don't have quite so much desription and focus more on characters. TTOTC, however, I do enjoy, although more for the plot than for the way that it's written. But I digress. Um shall we say a 7.3 overall?

yeah, heavy on the descrip. fo-sho! VERY SLOW at the beginning, but some parts were clever (the knitting death list- however, not sure how that works...). i'd definately take any missionary bio over that! Give me an Elizabeth Elliot and save me from such torture.
Rating: 4

I, like Drew, didn't really start enjoying it until book 3. The story really picked up, and the loose ends came together. Carton is a great character, especially compared to Darnay. Was it just me, or did Charles just seem like a funny little footnote on Sydney's epic...nevermind. Anyway, I think his character was really bland, and I didn't feel sorry for him. I'd give the book a 6, it was a fun read at the end, especially Pross vs. Defarge: The End of All Things. Can't wait for thr rematch.

How's there going to be a rematch when Pross and Mme. Defarge probably ended up in two different places after death?
